Patna: IGIMS will have 272 appointments including 100 doctors, complete cancer treatment under one roof

The state government has created 272 posts for the State Cancer Institute located at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS), there are about 100 posts of doctors and the rest are posts of technical staff. Cancer patients from across the state will be treated at the Cancer Institute. From surgery to treatment, there will be a complete system under one roof.

This four building has the facility to accommodate about 100 beds. It will have five modular operation theaters including ICU, HDU as well as facilities like PAT scan, CT scan, MRI, Linear escalator, Brachytherapy, Radiotherapy. It will be functional in the next two-three months. With this, all types of facilities will be available to the patients under one roof.

Specialist doctors will be appointed in departments in the State Cancer Institute. With this, the patients of the state will not need to go to another state for cancer treatment. Every year more than 30 thousand patients reach the hospital from assistant professors in the departments of Clinical Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Medical Physics, Medical Oncology, Immuno Pathology etc.

Every year 30,000 new cancer patients reach the cancer department of IGIMS. About 60 thousand old patients reach the follow-up. In the Radiation and Surgery department, many patients also reach for radiation and surgery. Better facilities for cancer treatment are available in IGIMS and AIIMS at the government level.
