CLAT Exam
The Combined Law Admission Test (CLAT) is on December 3. Now this exam is expected to be held in Hindi also. Its process has started. Having CLAT paper in Hindi for admission to 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) of the country will benefit the students of Hindi speaking states of the country including Bihar.
Recently, a public interest litigation has been filed in this regard in the Delhi High Court. In this, a request has been made to conduct CLAT papers in Hindi and other languages. Delhi High Court has also sought response from Consortium of NLU in this matter. The counsel appearing for the consortium has submitted that a committee has been constituted, which will consider the matter of conducting CLAT in other languages in the meeting.
It has been said in the court that English is not so good for the students of states near the Hindi heartland of Bihar, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan. Due to this many students are not able to qualify in CLAT. For a long time there has been a demand in this regard that when the paper of other competitive examinations can come in mother tongue Hindi, then why not of CLAT. The Delhi High Court, while hearing a PIL, has asked the Consortium of National Law Universities that if entrance exams like NEET and JEE can be conducted in Hindi then why CLAT for law school admission is conducted in English only.
Here NLU Delhi conducts its own entrance exam. Its name is Islet. It will be organized across the country on 10th December.
