Government Polytechnic Jehanabad, Patna has been recently established in 2019 by the Government of Bihar via its Department of Science and Technology, Bihar. GPJ Patna is recognized by the AICTE and is affiliated to State Board of Techanical Education(SBTE). The first session 2019-2020 is successfully running in the old campus of the Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College at Patliputra Colony.

The BCECE Board conducts Diploma Entrance Competitive Examination for admission in Government Polytechnic Jehanabad and AICTE approved Private Polytechnic in the State of Bihar.:
Minimum Qualification
Only those candidates can get admission who are the citizen of India and
- Their parents are the native of Bihar.
- Their parents are domiciled in Bihar.
- Their parents are registered refugee of Bihar.
- Their parents are native of other states but employee of Govt. of Bihar.
